چکیده

Ultra wide band systems are considered as one of the most exciting technologies due to its capability of transmitting data over a wide frequency spectrum with very low power and high data rates. In any UWB receiver the low noise amplifier is the first stage. The LNA plays a crucial role in the whole reception chain. In this paper, we examine the performance of two different modulations techniques in UWB receiver with a wide band LNA. This LNA is designed by a TSMC 0.18 μm. The wide band LNA achieves the gain S21 of 12.5dB and a noise figure NF of 2.4 dB. In this work we evaluate the bit error rate BER of two different modulations with UWB Gaussian second derivative in the presence of the additive white Gaussian noise AWGN channel. The simulation results demonstrate that the OOK modulation technique provides better performance in comparison to the BPSK modulation. Keywords— wide band LNA, BER, BPSK, OOK, UWB

Analytical Performance Evaluation of Time-hopping Pulse Position Amplitude Modulation Ir-uwb Systems under Multi User Interference

Trends in modern communication systems place high demands on low power consumption, high speed transmission and anti-interference characteristics. Therefore impulse radio ultra–wideband (IR-UWB) [1] radio systems have recently gained increased popularity. Since IR-UWB symbols are transmitted with short pulses (< 2 ns), in IR-UWB systems, energy has been spread over the frequency bands of up to ...

Selection of pulse for ultra wide band communication (UWB) system

UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology is a reliable transmission scheme for wireless communication with high data rates. UWB is defined as signals with fractional band width more than 20% of its central frequency or as signals with bandwidth more than 500MHZ. UWB can be characterized with ultra-short duration pulses called monopulses which has excellent immunity in interference from sensitivity or m...

Integration interval and threshold evaluation for an energy detector receiver with PPM and OOK modulations

In this paper, we are evaluating the performances of energy detector receiver with on-off-keying (OOK) and pulse position modulation (PPM) in ultra wideband (UWB) communications. Energy detector (ED) receivers are considered as a lowcomplexity and low-power consumption option for the more complex coherent receivers. Obviously, the tradeoff for low complexity is degraded detection performance. A...

Combining OOK with PSM Modulation for Simple Transceiver of Orthogonal Pulse-Based TH-UWB Systems

This paper describes a combined modulation scheme for time-hopping ultra-wideband (TH-UWB) radio systems by using onoff keying (OOK) and pulse-shape modulation (PSM). A set of orthogonal pulses is used to represent bits in a symbol. These orthogonal pulses are transmitted simultaneously in the same pulse repetition interval resulting in a composite pulse. This scheme transmits the same number o...
